In July of 2005, at an inaugural class for a two-year technology course, I heard these words: “It is no longer slow and steady, it is now fast and efficient…” Nothing could be truer.
For ‘Today’, yesterday is past, gone, finished and irrelevant! ‘Now’, is the new relevant.
Years of experience, though relevant in some fields is quickly becoming obsolete. Technology is changing faster than any one ever anticipated.
Today needs people who can think on their feet, not standing, but running. The quicker your mind can come up with effective solutions to problems, the better your chances of succeeding. It is no longer a matter of only experience – as we have known it.
It is ironic however, how the word ‘experience’ is instinctively synonymous with time. Yet far from it, experience – though involving time, means way more; it includes skills, “observation of facts or events” and putting that to use effectively.
For ‘Today’, yesterday is past, gone, finished and irrelevant! ‘Now’, is the new relevant.
Need to advance in any area? Ask the right questions, read the right resources, expand your mind, think, research, interact with the right people, and use your time wisely, in no time you will be amazed at the results.
The companies, technologies and people changing our world today clearly show that being long in the business has little to do with doing well in the business.
